Update: unlike one person here, the update did not erase my saved games. All is good, and the new update is welcome.

I'm totally defenseless when it comes to adventure gaming, and I recollect my teen years with no other genre in videogames. Being too young at the time, I had never played the Secret of the Monkey Island, and after playing the sequel firstly, I couldn't go back to the original game with the inferior graphics and lacking the voice over. I feel so amazing that Lucasarts redid this game and boy, is it as fun as ever! The voice acting is great, the graphics are good (I've now quit gaming on the PC, that's why I purchased the iPhone version) and I purchased it the second I heard it's available here! What a blast!

As some reviewers point out, the controls are really weird at the beginning, (there's a cursor on the screen, and you need to slide your finger 'anywhere' on the screen to move the cursor accordingly, it's actually very much like using your mouse on your computer monitor itself) but when you play on, the controls become comfortable and only natural since common pointing and clicking (with the pad of a finger) would be very imprecise on the relatively small screen. These games require accuracy and even sometimes pixel hunting. The way they implemented the controls are as good as it can get, because it's one way to move your cursor to an exact location without your fingertip blocking your view. If there's a better solution, I don't know what it is.

I'm so happy that I have the chance to play this legend of a game. The dialogues, the humor, it's brilliant! This game made me even more glad I bought an iPhone.

Adventure game lovers, You cannot miss this one. Thank you again Lucasarts.

Makes me hope Lucasarts gets all their SCUMM games on the iPhone!

This game is remarkable. They took a classic game, polished it up with new graphics and voice actors for every role, and remade all the music to sound rich and real (as opposed to the Soundblaster MIDI tunes we used to get). The interface is not really all that different from the original, except that the screen is now the mouse/touchpad as well. The result is a game that is an excellent example of what can be done on the iPhone OS. My iPod touch will get hours of use thanks to this game alone!

It also provides a lot of incentive for me to beg Lucasarts to release their other SCUMM games-- Improved graphics or not-- on the iPhone. I would slap down the cash for an iPod touch version of Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, and especially Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, among others. I really hope Lucasarts classics (and other point-and-click adventures) get released, because this is a worthy platform for them.

Bravo to Lucasarts for not only bringing back the classic, but bringing it back new & improved, with a lot of love and care. They really impressed me with this release.

Update deletes saved game

The latest update completely removed my saved game. I can't say I'm in the mood to replay the game again just to get back to where I was. Thanks, Lucasarts.
